Spiritual care
At the Benedictine Health System, we care for the entire person – body, mind and spirit. The spiritual care staff in our communities provide spiritual and emotional support to our residents, their family members and visitors.
The BHS spiritual care professional respectfully responds to the values, beliefs and religious needs of every individual. A spiritual care professional helps maintain an individual’s connection to their support communities through collaboration with local religious leaders.
Our spiritual care professionals are attentive listeners who encourage individuals to discover meaning and purpose, an advocate who will help interpret medical language, serve as a peacemaker, provide support during difficult decisions and respect indivdiual beliefs. Spiritual care may or may not include religious care; that's up to the individual.
